This week I’m cheating a little bit, because I chose The Hobbit, which is a book that starts in Spring, but ends in Winter, because Bilbo’s journey/quest takes almost an entire year.
I love picturing Bilbo in my mind, just outside Bag End, smoking his pipe and being bothered by that weird wizard. Also, the Shire during Spring is the best place ever.
I currently own three copies of The Hobbit: the red one is the first edition I purchased in 2002, I think, and it’s simple, only with Thror’s Map and a couple of illustrations by Tolkien; then I have the annotated edition by Tolkien and D.A. Anderson; lastly, the beautiful edition illustrated by Alan Lee with an updated italian translation (finally!).
Concerning the shelf above, that’s the one at the bottom and holds only school/university books and a couple of art books (on the left) I purchased at the museums. Nothing fancy. Also, I’m sorry for the horrible photo, but there is very few light there!
