Last Saturday, I was scrolling my Instagram feed and I saw a couple of my favorite bookstagrammers sharing photos for a challenge called #LoveAThon, I’m always looking for new fun things to do and I did some research. I ended up discovering a two-days event and impulsively joining it without even having the whole schedule!
I’m sorry for all my posts you’re going to find in your feed reader (5 in 2 days!), but I’m so happy I decided to participate, because it made me finally realize how much I love talking about books.
When I first started this blog, my main purpose was to share some book and movie reviews, because I was overexcited for The Hobbit trilogy at that time (I’m still fangirling about it, don’t worry), but I ended up talking about a wide range of different topics instead, mainly because I was afraid of writing reviews. I still struggled with English sometimes and I didn’t want to sound stupid or something. Now, I think it doesn’t matter, it’s part of who I am.
So, I decided to label my blog as a lifestyle one, I tried to be a super geek and an A Beautiful Mess kind of blogger, but the truth is that I don’t cosplay, I can barely name all the main characters of Star Wars (despite I really like the trilogies), I don’t read comics, I don’t own a DSRL, I don’t like to share tutorials and I don’t actually do something very crafty in my free time. Then I decided I wanted to become an infoblogger, so I started talking about my favorite tools and social media strategies and, while I’m still going to write about productivity, I realized it wasn’t actually my niche. I couldn’t spend my whole life talking about that.
It’s when I found myself writing about the Top Ten Book I’ve Recently Added to My TBR, that I realized how excited I was to talk about books! And participating to Love-A-Thon was a way to test out myself to see if I was going to enjoy being part of the community. Well, I enjoyed it, a lot.
During my reader survey before the end of the year, I asked if you would be interested to read more posts about Tolkien and Middle-earth and I received many positive response. It makes me so happy, because I really want to stop trying to be someone else and start being Alice, the real one. That’s my goal for the next few months! It doesn’t mean I’ll write book reviews two times a week, let’s take it easy.
I just needed an imput to start being myself and Love-A-Thon really helped me.
